Dallas Cowboys Soon to Bid a Fond Farewell to Irving, Texas
Since joining the league as an expansion team in 1960, the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League have been a success on the field. "America's Team" has been just as victorious off the field and is carefully to be one of the most requisite sports teams in North America. To top it all off, the Cowboys cheered on by the world paramount Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, are a fan popular franchise in the State of Texas, the United States and well beyond. For the past thirty-five years, Cowboys football has called Texas Stadium in the friendly city of Irving, Texas home. The society of Irving, placed in the northeast corner of the State of Texas, got its start in 1889 as Gorbit, and was founded in 1903 by J.O. "Otto" Schulze and Otis Brown. It is believed to have received its name from the author Washington Irving. Incorporated in 1914, co-founder Otis Brown was Irving's first mayor. Early in the twentieth century, Irving was home to churches, cotton gins, a blacksmith shop and a normal store. In 1909 the Irving group School District was established. The initial growth of Irving was slow but began to take off in the 1930s. The University of Dallas established itself in Irving and opened in 1956. In 1971 the Dallas Cowboys, who had called the Cotton Bowl in Dallas home since becoming an expansion team in 1960, moved to their own home, Texas Stadium, in Irving.

Situated in Dallas County, today the city of Irving boasts a people of just over 201,000 and is placed within the metropolitan area referred to as the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Irving's close nearnessy to Dallas/Fort Worth and the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport makes it a popular enterprise and corporate location. Although Irving is arguably best well known for being the home of the world paramount Nfl Dallas Cowboys, it is also home to many large enterprise headquarters together with Exxon Mobil, Kimberly-Clark, Omni Hotels and Chuck E. Cheese's, to name just a few. It is also home to Las Colinas, a planned society that includes corporate offices, luxury hotels, office towers, lakes, inexpressive country clubs, urban lofts and gated homes. The national headquarters of the Boy Scout of America is also placed in Irving. As well, each spring, since occasion in 1986 the Four Seasons Las Colinas Resort in Irving has hosted the Byron Nelson Championship Pga event.
The City of Irving has experienced much growth and prosperity since being incorporated in 1914. It is sure to continue to do so in the years to come. It will, however, have to do so without its most paramount occupants, the Dallas Cowboys, and without one of its most paramount landmarks, Texas Stadium. In 2009, things will convert for the city of Irving and for the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, and all the team's future football card players, as Cowboys football moves to the Dallas Cowboys new stadium in Arlington, Texas. Unfortunately for Dallas Cowboys fans and football fans everywhere the city of Irving plans to demolish Texas Stadium and a requisite part of Dallas Cowboys history to build a mixed-use project. The city of Irving has been good to the Dallas Cowboys. Since 1971, they have prospered and experienced exceptional success at their home field of Texas Stadium. The Dallas Cowboys have also been very good to the Irving community, all the time giving back through charity and celebrity efforts and appearances. The city of Irving will miss the Dallas Cowboys and the Dallas Cowboys will miss Irving. The city of Irving will all the time hold a place of honor in Dallas Cowboys history.
