In our final part of the Nfl week two review, I will go over two big matchups in the Nfl this week. These two matchups have playoff implications and could conclude the whole season for all four clubs involved. The two games I'll be reviewing are the Washington Redskins at the Dallas Cowboys and the Pittsburgh Steelers at the Jacksonville Jaguars. Let's take a look.

Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys

Both of these teams are down 0-1 on the season and neither one can afford to go 0-2. Someone's season is going to come to a screeching halt this week. The Washington Redskins were stunned on Monday night by the Minnesota Vikings. They lost 19-16, but they had a shot to sent it to overtime. Hall missed the field goal. Redskins Qb Mark Brunell was fairly accurate--60%--but he didn't throw for many yards and he didn't have a Td pass. The running game was split among a few backs. Clinton Portis is having shoulder pains again and could see wee action this week.

The Dallas Cowboys--all abuzz about T.O. Being added to the team--went down to Jacksonville last Sunday. They lost to the Jaguars 24-17 and looked a bit out of sync. Drew Bledsoe speedily raised alarms as he threw three interceptions. He also completed just under 50% of his passes. It was a poor operation by Bledsoe and Dallas fans should start worrying. Jones carried the ball for 72 yards and scored a Td for Dallas. Both of these teams are startling to play hard to avoid that infamous 0-2 start, which practically means no Super Bowl appearance.

Pick: Dallas Why? The Redskins offense is horrible. If Dallas can score 14 points, they can probably win.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Jacksonville Jaguars

The Steelers may be without Big Ben again this week. He's questionable, but he's working hard to show coach Cowher that he's ready to play. The team has had an extra long rest. They played last Thursday night at home against the Dolphins. They won that game 28-17. Charlie Batch had one of the best games of his career. Parker added 115 yards on the ground and the Steelers defense stifled the Dolphins for most of the night.

Jacksonville again won at home on opening weekend. The first quarter was choppy, but the team got it together after that. Their challenge is increased this week despite being at home. Leftwich will need to tighten up his passes and play mistake free football. The Jaguars defense will need to stop the run. If Big Ben is playing, they will need to pressure him and knock him down often. Both of these teams have tough games again next week. It's go time.

Pick: Steelers Why? They have extra rest and could be charged up more if Big Ben comes back. They have a good defense than Jacksonville and Leftwich is prone to throwing interceptions.

I have a crazy idea. I know it's crazy and that I probably lose credibility based on my delusion; but...

Atlanta needs two teams. Yes, I said two teams. I told you it was crazy, but hear me out.

I see no fancy why a metro area that's approximately the size (in population) of Denmark, can't hold more than one expert football club. Two teams would not dilute Atlanta's soccer population and in fact, my hypothesis is that two teams would in fact advance fan commitment to their respective team! I have a law that one of the two keys to true spectator success for soccer in America, is more teams in closer nearnessy (the other is promotion and relegation...but that's a branch for another beer).

Stadiums, true Soccer definite Stadiums (Ssss), are meant to be intimate. Atlanta will not be supporting a Wembley or Stamford Bridge anytime soon, but a consolidate of Craven Cottages are in fact within reason! And without the benefit of a storied history, fan/player intimacy is a considerable ingredient for fostering the kind of fan hold and energy you find in football all over the world.

Two clubs in stadiums central to Northside vs. Southside or Eastside vs. Westside population centers could in fact see Atlanta playing host to the first true derby series in American soccer. I know Texas claims a derby between F.C. Dallas and Houston Dynamo - but come on, New York City and Washington D.C. Are closer than those two Texas giants.

My idea is auspicious sure. But not wholly beyond reality. London supports 13 football clubs; five of which are in the Premiership! Most true fans I know, the guys who woke up at 2:00Am to watch the National Team in Korea, would love to kit up with scarves and paint, and head out to hold Their team - a team with some local talent - with some home grown players who got picked up through Their local club systems, a team with players they might see on the weekend at a movie or at a bistro somewhere. Atlanta's sports fans - in fact most American sports fans, naturally haven't had way to this type of scenario.

Many Americans on the fringe, whose exposure to football is the occasional European Championship or World Cup match, just don't understand the climate - the commitment - the songs - the scarves - the standing - the unity - the fact that a hundred thousand population are at a match, to watch the match, with minimal distractions.

What many Americans may not realize is this same drama takes place every Saturday and Sunday in club leagues all over Europe, Africa, South America, and Asia.

Atlanta is missing this, and Atlantans are missing out on this. Now is the time to generate this climate in Atlanta. To destroy our communal apathy as sports fans...to generate true clubs with the kind of climate surrounding them that builds a deep fan base behind a true local team. Your team.

This will be a tight fight - and is the marquee game of the weekend. I wonder how Sports visible feels about its Super Bowl pick starting 0-2? But after last season's 1-7 start by the Panthers I don't think they'll be too worried about an 0-fer in their first two contests.

This is a rematch of Super Bowl 38 (the Roman numerals are just too cumbersome) and many of the law are still in place for both organizations. You have to love the home dogs in the Nfl, and I do think that the odds of a team with as much promise as the Panthers dropping two right in front of their own fans, but the Pats are as a matter of fact tough to go against. I would feel a lot best about this game if I were a Carolina fan if A) Kris Jenkins had waited until next week to have a season-ending injury, B) Bill Belichick didn't have those three extra days to game plan, C) Corey Dillon was still on the Bengals, and D) Hurricane Ophelia hit at about 1 p.m. On Sunday.

Buffalo at Tampa Bay (-3), 1 p.m. On Sunday

If this game were in Buffalo in December, everybody would be talking about warm weather teams traveling to cold climates. Why doesn't whatever make a similar unlikeness in the middle of cold weather teams traveling down to muggy, sweltering Florida in September (see: Denver vs. Miami last weekend)? I want to see the stat on Green Bay or Buffalo's report when the climatic characteristic at the chance kickoff is above 85 degrees. Quick, somebody get on that. And for the record, it's supposed to be 94 on Sunday with isolated thunderstorms.

Hey, I'll admit that I was as a matter of fact shocked by the Bucs win over Minnesota last Sunday. I'm not ready to jump on the bandwagon just yet, but no one ever said that there wasn't talent on that club. Also, this is J.P. Losman's first road test. He looked great against Houston at home, but if Buffalo is down 4 with five minutes to play this weekend we'll see what the kid is made of.

Jacksonville at Indianapolis (-9.5), 1 p.m. On Sunday

This is certainly the "Wow" line of the week. Yeah, I know that it will be Indy's home opener, that on any given Sunday they can put up 70, and that they handled a very talented Baltimore squad in Week 1. But I still wasn't expecting nearly a double-digit line. In their two games against the Colts last season, the Jags lost 24-17 in Week 3 but then rolled into the Rca Dome and beat Indy 27-24 in Week 6.

Manning and Co. Had wee trouble with the Ravens defense last week, but I think Jacksonville will be able to create more pressure with its front four. The trade-off is that the Jags secondary isn't nearly as talented as the Ravens, which Manning will most likely exploit. It's almost a shame that a game this big for these teams is happening this early when neither club is at its best.

Kansas City at Oakland (-1), 8 p.m. On Sunday

The Chiefs just as a matter of fact dominated the Jets last weekend. But it was a win at a price. Willie Roaf (hamstring), Ryan Sims (foot), Tony Richardson (knee/ankle), and Patrick Surtain (mild concussion) are each questionable this weekend for the Chiefs, who have beaten the Raiders four consecutive times.

The Raiders offense is so hit-or-miss (could be three-and-out, could be a touchdown in 80 seconds) that the defense won't have much time to rest this season. Just about the time that Warren Sapp and Ed Jasper have let their weight rule on the bench, Kerry Collins has fumbled again and it's back out on the field. Oakland wore down in the fourth quarter against New England. If the same thing happens against Kc, the Raiders are in trouble.

Free Pick: I like Baltimore (-3.5) on the road against Tennessee. This line is low because of the Kyle Boller injury, but it doesn't accurately reflect the talent deficit here. People are assuming Boller as a matter of fact meant something to the team. The Titans aren't a terrible team, but they did get manhandled by Pittsburgh (161 rushing yards) last weekend. Baltimore is nearly as physical as the Steelers and should be able to pound the Titans on the ground with Jamal Lewis and Chester Taylor. I'm going to ignore the fact that the Ravens are 1-6 Ats in their last seven games, or that Anthony Wright is just 6-7 as a starter (with his last loss advent against Tennessee in the 2003 playoffs), or that there's a possibility of a Kordell Stewart sighting. The numbers may be hazy on this pick, but just ask yourself one simple ask - which one of these teams is more likely to start off 0-2?

Nfl Week 2 Power Rankings

1) New England Patriots (1-0) - The Patriots are quickly becoming the Duke Blue Devils of the Nfl. They're constantly praised for their selflessness and all the time described as underrated. Yet, I can't think of any other team whose slot receiver and right guard I've seen in commercials in the last 12 months.

2) Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0) - They remain ahead of the Colts because they are more physical. They don't miss Plexico on offense. Yet.

3) Indianapolis Colts (1-0) - If the regularly reliable Matt Stover hadn't shanked three field goals, and the final score was 24-16, would everybody still be enamored with Indy's defense?

4) Jacksonville Jaguars (1-0) - It will be tough to go into the Rca Dome and keep up with the Colts. However, that's exactly what they did last year when they beat them 27-24.

5) Atlanta Falcons (1-0) - They need to be specific of a letdown against Seattle this week. Also, Jim Mora Jr. Is one hell of a coach and will be around a long, long time.

6) Philadelphia Eagles (0-1) - Don't think for a second that playing without Trotter didn't make a unlikeness on Monday. Regardless, I've said it before and I'll say it again, this team is wobbling.

7) Dallas Cowboys (1-0) - Let's not get too excited about Drew Bledsoe just yet. He's still got abundance of turnovers left in that arm.

8) Buffalo Bills (1-0) - Buffalo is now 10-3 in it's last 13 games.

9) Kansas City Chiefs (1-0) - Just when you think that Larry Johnson has turned the angle in his career, he gets arrested for beating up his ex-girlfriend. Scumbag.

10) New Orleans Saints (1-0) - It's tragic that it may have taken something like a natural disaster to get this variety of talent to play focused, purposeful football. But so be it.

11) Carolina Panthers (0-1) - Loss of Kris Jenkins will hurt. Hopefully it won't be a harbinger of things to come. Stephen Davis' line last Sunday (13 carries, 81 yards, Td) was very promising.

12) Cincinnati Bengals (1-0) - Took care of firm against weak Browns team in Cleveland. If they're going to make the playoffs they need to win games like this week's against Minnesota. They are also 5-2 Ats in their last seven games.

Yet, Mlb speaks only in platitudes about diversity, bypassing the inner city and working class neighborhoods, seemingly seeing for talent in any place but there.

As its own ruling class, baseball owners have invested in multi-million dollar academies and facilities primarily in the Dominican Republic and Venezuela. But it is now going even farther abroad into mainland China and even Ghana, subsequent to its interests in Japan and South Korea.

Mlb has but one Urban Baseball Youth Academy in the entirety of the United States, placed in Compton, Ca which opened in 2006. Mexico, Canada, Japan, Panama, Cuba, Colombia and Taiwan totaled just half of those from the Dominican Republic.

All major league teams have academies and/or share facilities primarily in the Dominican Republic with a few remaining in Venezuela, where building has tailed off due to civil unrest. But in its most recent coup, Mlb has gotten an even bigger break from the federal government in a new change in the Immigration & Nationality Act, which was hardly publicized. Amended by the U.S. Congress in 2006 and signed into law on December 22, 2006 by President George W. Bush, it is known as the "Compete Act of 2006" or the "Creating Opportunities for Minor League Professionals, Entertainers and Teams through Legal Entry Act of 2006."

The legislation changes the visa status of foreign-born minor league players to be able to use P-1 visas, once reserved only for major league players, and an upgrade from the H-2B visas, ordinarily used by temporary foreign-born workers in numerous industries. Each team previously was petite to 26 H-2B visas per season for its minor leagues. Major leagues have no numerical limitations with the P-1 visa, valid for a period of 10 years.

Given that over 40% of minor leaguers are foreign-born and that most of them are from the Dominican Republic, this will enable a continuous pipeline of Latin American players. Mlb's foreign academies house, feed, school and teach athletic skills to boys as young as 10 years old until they are age 16, who are then allowed to sign minor league contracts. In the U.S., a player must be 18 years old to sign a minor league ageement and then must go through the draft system.

Young Dominicans have the chance to benefit from more than just baseball skills but establishment for a life in the U.S. As well. By the same token, very few of these youngsters statistically make it to the major leagues and even prior to their new visa status, hundreds of minor leaguers were brought to the U.S. Each year only to be relieved of their services. Hundreds of Dominican players also never return to their homeland and remain in the U.S. As illegal immigrants, primarily surviving in the private cheaper of New York City.

What Mlb no longer finds useful becomes disposable. Unfortunately, these disposables are people; from retired players who never had benefit of the lucrative contract, true ambassadors of the game such as Frank Robinson, African American youth, and even foreign-born players who are not major league material.

It has been said that Latin players in the Dominican Republic sign for contracts between 5 and 10 cents on the dollar compared to their U.S. Counterparts. And with practically 400 Dominican players signed each year to minor league contracts, Mlb can celebrate its unhampered pipeline of such as well as its new surprisingly cozy connection with the U.S. Congress which it lobbied along with the U.S. State Department, for these immigration law changes.

The course developed in 1998 by the U.S. Department of Labor and the Immigration and Naturalization Service, now the Department of Homeland Security, granted Mlb its visa program, contingent upon foreign-born players only occupying positions on a team that could not be filled by U.S. Citizens.

Obviously, the U.S. Government and Mlb have come to the end that playing baseball should be included among those "jobs Americans won't do." Terribly convenient, but sad for the game of baseball, no longer to be thought about an equal chance employer. Happy Civil ownership Game, Commissioner!

Baseball, Softball Games For 12 habitancy Or Less

I ordinarily don't play baseball or softball too much. However, last weekend, a friend invited me to the park to hit some softballs. I was very bored, so I speedily agreed.

As a kid I was never literally into the sport of baseball. I understanding that the game was too slow and boring. I was more in to basketball or football, where the ball is entertaining speedily and there is constantly something going on. Other thing about baseball that I never liked is that it takes so many habitancy to play a good game. If you are playing basketball in the playground you can do just fine with 4 habitancy or even 2. Backyard football can be played just fine with 3 or more habitancy as well. But advent up with 18 habitancy to play a game of baseball is just way too much. Well, last weekend I learned a merge of games that can be played with 12 habitancy or less.

A great way to play with 12 habitancy is that you split up in to 4 teams of 3 people. 1 team is up to bat and the other teams share the field. You play 2 outs instead of three, since your batting team is so small. Also, if all of your players on are base then you have to take an out to send up a batter.

Another game that you can play if you have less than 12 habitancy is that you split in to 2 teams. One team is up to bat. The batting team doesn't run the bases since there are not adequate players to field. Instead you just use ghost runners. The fielding team will cover only the left side of the field. If the batter hits the ball in the infield and the fielders cover it without errors, it is an out. If the infielders make an error, it is a single. If the batter hits a ground ball that makes it to shallow outfield, it is a single. If the outfielder makes error fielding the ball, it is a double. Lastly, if the ball makes it to deep outfield, it is a double. If the deep outfielder errors, then it is a triple.

I literally don't know what these versions of the game are called, but they were pretty fun to play. On a warm spring day, it sure was fun to be surface and hitting some softballs, even though it isn't one of my favorite sports to play. Either way, it was great to be with friends and also to make new friend on the field. I look forward to playing some more and maybe one day, I will enjoy and appreciate the "All-American" sport a microscopic more than I do now.
