It rained during most of the drive from Charlottesville to FedEx Field. During the drive up I wondered if they would cancel the event. At points during the drive up I had the stability control kick in because of the amount of water on the road. The stability control is likely more of a product of the fact that I'll need to replace my street tires soon. The racing tires probably have another year or two left on them. Anyway, about the autocross. As I mentioned it rained most of the morning, but my runs did not come until the last heat of the day. I still ended up changing tires in the rain though and not having an umbrella or a rain coat made it quite miserable. Fortunately the Under Armour shirt I was wearing dried out quickly. Working the course was quite entertaining as well as I had a good view of what was probably the slickest section of the course. While it was no longer raining the lot was still wet and when combined with the pavement sealer that was applied last spring it was very slick. It actually appeared that as the lot started to dry out the sealer got slicker up until a specific point of dryness and then it started to increase in traction. The sections of the course were still quite slick when my class took to the course. As a result I left the stability control/traction control on for all four runs.
